Miranda started her Pilates career 32 years ago whilst still a professional dancer. Having suffered a spinal injury she was first introduced to the Pilates in 1984. Miranda trained to be a Pilates teacher in 1988. She began by teaching classes at Lewisham College and, latterly, students at Middlesex University as part of their Performing Arts BA. Miranda has led the Body Control Pilates teacher training team in the past and has written several courses for Body Control Pilates.
Alongside her private work, Miranda teaches weekly classes for teachers at the Body Control Pilates Centre in London. She also runs national workshops for Pilates teachers and presents at Development Weekend. Her first book “The Complete Classic Pilates Method” was published by Pan Macmillan.
Miranda says ‘My aim is to maintain the idea of ‘Contrology’ (Joseph Pilates original name for his method), a mental and physical conditioning which results in strength, stretch and control which can only comes about through practice, self-discipline and mentoring’.
